I bought this spinner thinking how great it was to get 3 bowls with lids, 2 curved needles and battery power to reduce the stress of getting beads onto the needle and thread. After using this for about an hour I got fed up with the noise and when I had used up about half of my seed beads in the bowl it was hard to accumulate beads as quickly. It was also awkward to switch the spinner on and off quickly without using both hands. And you can't spin the bowl without the motor. So if the motor fails you better build your own base for the bowls.
I bought the Jr. size wooden manual spinner by Beadalon for comparison and was pleased with it. First, it was SILENT! No humming and no switches to grab to stop the spinning. And with a smaller bowl I still could easily pick up beads even after using up most of my supply. It seemed to pick up beads faster than the Darice version, too.
So save a few dollars and go for the manual power. You'll also save money by not burning up AA batteries! Just wish it came with a second curved needle!

I've never owned a bead spinner before, but I've seen the expensive wooden ones that you have to push with one hand while you string with another. They work well, but sometimes technology gives us all a extra help in the right place. I like that this bead spinner is battery powered so I have an extra hand available to guide my project while I string. I string directly onto wire for coil beads and this bead spinner has helped to speed up the process for me. I like that it comes with three barrels/lids so that I can load up three different colors before I have to change anything and that I can store the beads in the barrels between uses.
All in all, this product has been well designed and I believe that it would be an asset to any beader's tool list. It is also less expensive than the wooden bead spinners you see available on the net.
The only con I can see is that due to the plastic it is made of, I wouldn't want to travel with it. I think that if you travel and string, you might want to go for a wooden bead spinner that can take a little abuse on the road. However, mine will never leave my studio, so that isn't a problem for me.

Within half an hour of unpacking my new bead spinner, I went from "Where is my receipt, so I can take this back tomorrow first thing?" to "OMG, I love it!" Practice is the only way you will get the hang of it, because the instructions are really not very good and may even goof you up. Even the YouTube videos are bad. They don't show you how to hold the needle and there are no close-ups, which would really help. In my frustration, I developed a two-handed kind of method whereby my left hand sort of helped keep the needle tip (I'm right-handed)submerged in the oncoming traffic of the bead stream. After a few more minutes of practice, this assist was no longer necessary. The curved needle supplied seemed very floppy to me as it kept flipping around in the beads, and even if I managed to snag a few, they flew right off when the needle would suddenly turn the wrong way. Using two hands helped get this under control. The one and only picture which illustrates actual operation in the instructions shows a left-handed user who has the needle lying almost flat on the bead surface; this won't work as the needle is curved upward slightly and this position won't enable the tip to catch them on their way past. Also, I had the best luck catching beads with my needle in the two o'clock location in the bowl, curved facing me with the spinner rotating counterclockwise. As soon as I did this, the beads started marching right up the needle in the most surprising fashion -- eeep -- it really is great fun once you figure it out. Just remember to keep the needle tip (which is wicked sharp!) submerged in the bead stream, don't let it flip around on you, and because the needle is so flexible, don't load too many heavy beads on it or they will all fall off when you go to pick it up to push them backwards onto your thread. The amazing thing about this item is that it works just as well with small seed beads as with large e-beads. In no time at all, I had strung six yards of glass beads for crocheted bead bracelets. A very good time-saving investment if you do a lot of stringing of same-color or random-color bead assortments.

I was hesitant at first to even consider any bead spinner, but I read some reviews for this one [...] AND I had a coupon for 50% off, so I jumped. I am SO glad I did. It's totally easy to use, just takes a little practice - for me about 10 minuest! The bowl rotates either way so whatever angle is good for you. I used .15 beading wire and was going like gang-busters in less than half an hour. The three bowls are GREAT so you don't have to dump and re-load the beads to change color. I hope they make it so you can purchase extra bowls for it. I used rechargeable batteries so I'm not concerned about battery life and as far as the little sound it makes, it could be annoying to some, but the speed of stringing tiny seed beads that I can hardly see outweighs that by MILES.

I was really looking forward to trying this product, but once I did, I was disappointed. First, it's plastic, so it's a bit lightweight for what you need it for. It's also quite loud - certainly not something that can be used around a tv or conversation. It does work as it says, but takes quite a bit of practice to pick up enough beads on the needle to make it worthwhile. Overall, I think the wood ones are better & having tried one at a local craft fair, I plan to trade in this product for something of a better quality.
