I WANT to love these lacing beads. We should be able to love these lacing beads! They are, after all Melissa and Doug, the toy brand that we all love. But I really dislike them.
The strings have nothing to stop the beads from falling off. Even double knotting the end of the string does not keep the large beads from slipping.
This is very frustrating for a three year old.
We instead end up using this for sorting and patterns. Too bad we can't use it to 'lace'.

This is a very good quality product. I continually buy Melissa & Doug products for their quality, enjoyment, and learning. My daughter is 2 years old and is enjoying lacing the beads on the string and telling me what colors the beads are. I would recommend this item to anyone with young children.

My son loves puzzles, so we figured this would be a great fit being able to put the beads together in different patterns. Wellll, he already knew his colors, he can count pretty well, so we figured he would like this just for play. He likes the toy, but it doesnt fascinate him the way I thought it would. I think if we had introduced this toy when he was about three years old instead of four, it would be used everyday. Great toy, even if I timed it wrong.

Both my two year old and four year old play with this. Just a great classic.

Got 2 of these sets for little kids in my extended family. BEAUTIFUL! Simple, sturdy, not complicated, colorful, overall great! Remind me of toys I had growing up in the 50's-60's. Only complaint (and not a big enough deal to me to lose a star) is the fact that once opened you can't really store them in the box as it has no lid. BUT...a big old ziploc freezer bag does the trick! : ). NOTE: These would also be excellent for occupational therapy activities for kids with autism, etc. Great purchase. Will last for more than 1 kid for sure.
